Studying Tips

For some of you that are currently in university college or even high school, studying is the one thing that sometimes we struggle with. I understand. Whether you’re studying for exams or studying because you don’t understand something earlier, Sitting there and actually studying for hours on end can be somewhat mentally exhausting.

In this article, i want to give you tips on how to start and maintain that habit. Keep in mind that everyone has their own preferences, and we believe you know yourself best. So what works for me here may not be what’s best for you, and that okay.

1. Create your daily goals

What I have realized for myself during my Uni years is that you need a clear goal on what you are going to study each day. Create daily goals for each day and if you want, you can hang it somewhere next to your desk, so you won’t forget about it.

Without a goal in mind, studying can be quite daunting and intimidating, especially when you have so many things you need to study. By setting your goals and breaking down what you are going to study that day, slowly you would feel that the workload is not as much as you think.

2. Give yourself a short break

Don’t forget to give yourself a short 15 to 30 minutes break after an hour or two of studying. This also help me to keep that habit of idle scrolling through social meda short. By giving myself a short break after each hour, I can focus better when im actually studying.

3. Make a study group

An African proverb said, “if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Studying with some friends is maybe the thing that you’re missing. By studying together, It will help you and your friends gain back that motivation to study.

Just seeing your friends studying will push you to go study yourself and it also works the other way around. Personally, I like to keep it small around 3-4 people. Sometimes if there are more people I can’t concentrate, and if there are too few it may make things awkward for me.
